Lin, who won the 2017 Asia-Pacific Amateur in New Zealand, won the 2019 Championship at Sheshan International Golf Club in China in a playoff over defending champion and top-ranked amateur in the world Takumi Kanaya. Tied for seventh and two strokes off the lead entering the final round, Lin closed with 68 which was enough to force extra holes for the first time in Championship history. Both Lin and Kanaya were attempting to join Hideki Matsuyama as two-time winners of the Asia-Pacific Amateur. After earning his second victory, he twice represented his country in the Arnold Palmer Cup and competed in the 2020 Masters Tournament at Augusta National and the 2021 Open at Royal St George’s. Since turning professional, he has gone on to compete on the Korn Ferry Tour, PGA Tour Americas and Asian Tour.
