Nakajima won the 2021 Asia-Pacific Amateur at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club in the United Arab Emirates in a playoff over Taichi Kho of Hong Kong, China. Competing as the No. 1 player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, he shot all four rounds in the 60s and his closing 68 was enough to force extra holes with Kho who shot 64-65 on the weekend. As reigning champion in 2022, he competed in the Masters Tournament at Augusta National, U.S. Open at The Country Club and The 150th Open at St Andrews. His other notable wins include the 2018 Australian Amateur, 2021 Japan Amateur and 2024 Indian Open. Since turning professional, he has gone on to compete on the Japan Golf Tour, DP World Tour and PGA Tour.
