Katano is making his second Championship start in 2026. His Asia-Pacific Amateur debut in 2025 in Dubai was highlighted by consecutive scores of 68 in the second and third rounds. Earlier this year, the University of Arizona commit won both the Australian Boys’ Amateur and Auckland Stroke Play Championships and finished runner-up in the New Zealand Under-19 Championship. In 2025, he won three World Amateur Golf Ranking events in New Zealand.
