Kang is making his first Championship start. Earlier in 2024, he recorded five top-20 finishes in World Amateur Golf Ranking events in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates. In 2023, he had 13 top-10 finishes in World Amateur Golf Ranking events, including wins in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
