Han won the inaugural Asia-Pacific Amateur in 2009 by five strokes over fellow countryman Eric Chun at Mission Hills Golf Club’s World Cup Course in China. Entering the final round with a two-stroke lead, the 17-year-old closed with 70 to more than double his advantage and earn an invitation to the following year’s Masters Tournament. After becoming the first Asia-Pacific Amateur champion, he said, “I had never even thought it would be possible for me to be playing in the Masters as an amateur.” In addition to competing at Augusta National in 2010, he also finished sixth in the Korea Open to earn low amateur honors.
