Murdaca won the 2014 Asia-Pacific Amateur at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia by seven strokes over Japan’s Mikumu Horikawa. He became Australia’s first champion in the year that his home country acted as host. Entering the final round with an eight-stroke lead following rounds of 69-68-67, his lead shrank to five before increasing it again on the second nine on his way to a closing 71. Murdaca, who won the Australian Boys’ Amateur in both 2010 and 2013, made the cut in the 2014 Australian Open and competed in the 2015 Masters Tournament at Augusta National before finishing sixth in his title defense in Hong Kong, China.
